The Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, president of the North Carolina National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, delivers an address called The State of Civil Rights in N.C. to the audience of the 66th N.C. NAACP convention at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.

The Hickory Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) recently awarded a $2500.00 college scholarship to Lauren Williams who graduated from Hickory High School in 2007, and is a junior attending High Point University majoring in non-profit leadership and management with a minor in sociology.
